A taste of the sea – in the heart of Bohuslän’s outer archipelago
Our restaurant’s beautiful location on our island off the west coast, with the sea as its closest neighbour, is hard to beat.
Here, you don’t just get a meal – you get an experience where every flavour reflects your surroundings: salty sea breezes, sun-warmed cliffs, and ingredients sourced from the sea and the local area. All served with a view of the horizon, in the company of silence.
We have limited seating – please book your table in advance at

The food is an experience in itself
From sea and soil to our tables – here, the ingredients take centre stage. We – and our guests – are more than a little in love with ultra-fresh, locally grown and low-mileage produce. The sea’s pantry is a natural supplier to our kitchen, alongside select cuts from trusted producers and greens from the mainland.
Everything we serve carries the imprint of season, quality and connection – to fishermen, farmers and the landscape itself. With the sea as our closest neighbour and the archipelago as our backdrop, every meal is served with both care and a view.
Table reservations are essential – we recommend booking well in advance.

OUR FOOD PHILOSOPHY
Our kitchen follows the rhythm of the sea, the shifting weather, and the changing seasons – which is why we don’t have a fixed menu. Instead, we let the ingredients and their availability guide what’s served each day.
At lunch, we usually offer two well-prepared dishes: one with fish and one with meat – always focused on flavour, simplicity, and the quality of the ingredients..
Dinner typically includes a starter and a main course, often with the sea taking the lead.
Children are of course warmly welcome, and our kitchen is happy to prepare something to suit younger palates.
TASTING MENU – FOR THE CURIOUS FOOD LOVER
During the winter season, we offer a six-course tasting menu – a culinary journey through the flavours of Bohuslän. The menu changes with the seasons and ingredient availability, always thoughtfully composed and served in an atmospheric setting.
The tasting menu is included in our most exclusive package, Outpost Of The Sea, but can also be added to other packages (subject to availability). Pre-booking is required.

The pilot station tower is run by volunteers. They work as good as daily during high season and more sporadically during low season. When in place, a flag is clearly visible from the restaurant. You can then enter the tower and also climb all the way up for a 360-degree view of the islands. There is a schedule where you can check in advance, and read more about the work the association does. That link can be found here.
Absolutely, we have a guest harbor with room for 25-30 boats but we do not make reservations in the guest harbor. When the weather is good and the winds are in the right direction, there are many good natural ports around the island. On the west side is Strömsund, where there is good shelter and mooring possibilities.
Look at the link right here, you’ll find a map with all the parking locations in Tanum Municipality.
Normally, the journey directly from Hamburgsund takes about 35 – 40 minutes depending on the winds, if the boat goes by Fjällbacka it takes about an extra 15 minutes. From Fjällbacka out to the islands it also takes about 40 minutes, so the total time Hamburgsund – Fjällbacka – Väderöarnas Värdshus is about an hour.
They usually run from Hamburgsund, just to the left side of the ferry crossing to Hamburgö. During the high season they go on regular trips from Fjällbacka and Hamburgsund. We can also pick up in Fjällbacka during low season if you let us know in good time. If you wish to go from elsewhere, we will gladly help you during the low season, but during the summer when the boats go on a regular tour list, we have a difficulty at catching up with extra stops.
Yes, our catamarans are specially built to endure all kinds of weather and winds. They are from England and can manage winds up to 30 knots, it just takes a little longer to get to the islands. If you feel you might get sea sick we recommend you to take a sea sickness pill, even though the trip is not that long.
Yes! We are! During off-season we are only open when we have reservations, make sure to give us a call before you decide you want to visit us.
