EXITING activities

Here, only your imagination – and occasionally the weather – sets the limits. We offer everything from lobster and crayfish fishing to kayaking.

For larger outdoor experiences, we collaborate with one of the West Coast’s best – Upplevelsebolaget in Uddevalla – known for creating memorable activities with professionalism and care.

And when it comes to fishing, we have our very own Johny. There’s nothing he doesn’t know about shellfish and the sea – and what he doesn’t know probably isn’t worth knowing.

Lobster fishing – the black gold

From late September to the end of November, you can join a classic lobster fishing trip with experienced local fishermen. We head out in a small boat from the Väderöarna dock, haul up the pots, and you’ll learn the basics of the technique. The catch is then cooked by the pier and served during a dinner where the flavours of the sea take centre stage.

Season: Late September – End of November

Cray fishing – A Taste of the Archipelago

From March to late September, we offer crayfishing trips where you get to join the crew pulling up fresh-caught traps. Learn how the fishing works and experience the archipelago from the sea. Perfect for food lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.

Season: March – Late September

Crab fishing – fun for all ages

Crab fishing is a relaxed and popular activity for families and curious visitors. We provide everything you need – line, bucket, bait, and a good spot on the dock. And of course, the crabs are released back into the sea afterward. It’s the perfect way to discover marine life – up close, easy, and fun.

Season: March – Late September

Join us for a peaceful boat ride through the rugged cliffs and quiet coves of the Väderöarna archipelago. A beautiful trip for those who want to experience more of the area’s unique nature and landscape – with the chance to spot seals and seabirds along the way.

The tour takes about 1 hour and is suitable for both adults and children. Can be booked as an add-on to one of our packages. Advance booking required.

Hiking on Väderöarna means being surrounded by stillness, sea and history.
In just an hour, you’ll take in rugged cliffs, green clearings and views that stay with you long after you’ve left the island.

Around the main island
A marked 2.5 km trail circles the main island, taking about 45 minutes at an easy pace. Along the way, you’ll pass open rock slabs, sheltered coves, and sweeping sea views. Don’t miss “the Church” – a mysterious site believed to have been a prayer spot for sailors – and “the Cave”, a quiet grove hidden among the trees.

The trail suits all ages, and dogs are welcome on leash. If you’re curious, there’s also geocaching along the way.

The old pilot station lookout
A short but steeper path leads to the old pilot lookout, offering panoramic views of the sea and islands. When the flag is raised, it’s open for visitors and staffed by local volunteers happy to share stories from the past. Read more here.

Our wood-fired sauna and hot tub sit right by the water, nestled in the rocks, with open views of the North Sea. Here, you can unwind in the steam, breathe in the salty air, and watch the weather shape the horizon – from sparkling sunshine to windswept storms.

It’s one of our most loved experiences. Sauna and hot tub access is included in several of our packages, but can also be added to day visits, subject to availability.

During summer, when the cliffs are warm and the sea holds its own temperature, the hot tubs take a break. They’re in use from late August to mid-June.

HOW MANY HOTELROOMS DO YOU HAVE?

We have 22 rooms & 53 beds.

General
IS IT OPEN IF I WANT TO GO INTO THE PILOT STATION TOWER?

The pilot station tower is run by volunteers. They work as good as daily during high season and more sporadically during low season. When in place, a flag is clearly visible from the restaurant. You can then enter the tower and also climb all the way up for a 360-degree view of the islands. There is a schedule where you can check in advance, and read more about the work the association does. That link can be found here.

CAN I TAKE MY OWN BOAT OUT TO THE ISLANDS?

Absolutely, we have a guest harbor with room for 25-30 boats but we do not make reservations in the guest harbor. When the weather is good and the winds are in the right direction, there are many good natural ports around the island. On the west side is Strömsund, where there is good shelter and mooring possibilities.

WHERE CAN I PARK?

Look at the link right here, you’ll find a map with all the parking locations in Tanum Municipality.

HOW LONG IS THE TRIP TO THE ISLANDS?

Normally, the journey directly from Hamburgsund takes about 35 – 40 minutes depending on the winds, if the boat goes by Fjällbacka it takes about an extra 15 minutes. From Fjällbacka out to the islands it also takes about 40 minutes, so the total time Hamburgsund – Fjällbacka – Väderöarnas Värdshus is about an hour.

FROM WHERE DO THE BOATS DEPART?

They usually run from Hamburgsund, just to the left side of the ferry crossing to Hamburgö. During the high season they go on regular trips from Fjällbacka and Hamburgsund. We can also pick up in Fjällbacka during low season if you let us know in good time. If you wish to go from elsewhere, we will gladly help you during the low season, but during the summer when the boats go on a regular tour list, we have a difficulty at catching up with extra stops.

DO THE BOATS MANAGE ALL KINDS OF WEATHER?

Yes, our catamarans are specially built to endure all kinds of weather and winds. They are from England and can manage winds up to 30 knots, it just takes a little longer to get to the islands. If you feel you might get sea sick we recommend you to take a sea sickness pill, even though the trip is not that long.

ARE YOU OPEN ALL YEAR AROUND?

Yes! We are! During off-season we are only open when we have reservations, make sure to give us a call before you decide you want to visit us.

Hello! We were a group of 14 people who, despite the fact that the first day contained a lot of rain and the second day contained a lot of wind, everyone was super happy. No flaws to note. Fantastically nice and staff, and what food! Superb!!!! Greetings! Johan
